The Casa de la Ciencia in Seville is hosting the exhibition Geology and mining for the habitability of the planet, an educational showcase by the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME-CSIC) that highlights the key role of geology and mining in sustainability, the ecological transition, and the responsible management of natural resources.
Through panels featuring graphics, photographs, and infographics, the exhibition—marking the 175th anniversary of this scientific institution—brings geoscientific research closer to the public, addressing natural hazards and emphasizing the importance of the subsurface in tackling the environmental challenges of the 21st century.
The exhibition journey covers topics ranging from the creation of geological maps, essential for understanding territory, to the study of aquifers, wetlands, and natural risks such as radon gas, volcanoes, and flooding.
