Vasari is pleased to present Interregnum, a solo exhibition by Lorena Guzmán at the gallery.

The exhibition features a collection of recent sculptures in epoxy resin and bronze that unfold a complex universe of animalities, hybridizations, mythological reinterpretations, and eccentric narratives. As Tania Puente argues in the text accompanying the exhibition, "the time conjured up by her images is that of an interregnum.

Its etymological meaning, “between kingdoms”, alludes both to an interval between taxonomic categories and to the dispersion of power and its potential mutation. Therefore, it is not only a matter of disciplinary breaks or sinister metamorphoses, but of the manifestation of the living, which overflows and moves between bodies without being able to settle in a definitive form."

Lorena Guzmán (Córdoba, Argentina, 1978). She graduated from the Prilidiano Pueyrredón National School of Fine Arts and holds a degree in graphic and multimedia design. She studied painting restoration at the National University of the Arts and completed a Master's degree in Conservation and Restoration of Oil Paintings. She completed her theoretical studies with a specialization in art history at the National Museum of Fine Arts and courses taught at La Academia del Sur. She specialized in different sculpture techniques, particularly polyester resin techniques, with the artist Leo Vinci.

Since 1999, she has regularly exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in Argentina and abroad. In 2007, he held his first solo exhibition at Galería Vasari, El amor según Lorena (Love according to Lorena).

Guzmán's sculptures bring us closer to an animal universe of monstrosities and bizarre narratives. With a naturalistic treatment and careful attention to detail, he works mainly in resin, but also uses bronze, wax, and marble, among other materials. His works delve into classical tradition to reflect on contemporary issues such as botany, zoology, instincts and other interactions with nature. They represent mythological figures, fantastic beings and exotic or deformed animals, hybrid existences and metamorphoses, endowed with irony and, at times, a dose of absurdity. She currently lives and works between Milan and Buenos Aires.
