The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes will inaugurate on June 9 at 6 p.m. the temporary exhibition Vechy Logioio. Crossing, presenting in its second-floor galleries a selection of sculptures, paintings and collages by the Argentine artist, curated by Andrés Duprat.
“This exhibition, Vechy Logioio’s first solo show at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, showcases the artist’s investigations into the grammar of forms, the treatment of different surfaces and the study of spatiality, both in her two-dimensional works and in her sculptures,” explains Duprat.
“The artist has developed a consistent body of work without resorting to grand gestures. She has experimented with different scales, materials and formats, from jewellery, drawings, collages and paintings to large bronze sculptures, such as the one installed in the garden surrounding the Museum, all marked by a distinctive, original and recognisable voice,” adds the Museum’s director.
The exhibition includes eight bronze sculptures of both small and large scale, including From the garden (2013), which entered the Museum’s collection in 2025 after receiving the National Lifetime Achievement Award granted by Argentina’s Secretariat of Culture. “In Logioio’s sculptures, the solidity of metal challenges the predictable plane that organizes space through its curves and abrupt cuts, while also evoking the imprint of an archaic origin through a new visual language,” notes the curator.
More than twenty paintings, collages and mixed-media works on paper from series created during the 1990s are also on display. “In these works,” Duprat points out, “composition, colour, geometric pattern and texture become metaphors for the lightness of forms. In her series of torsos, the blurred bodies, as if seen against the light, suggest an Apollonian, classical eroticism while also revealing the impossibility of fully capturing reality.”
