LewAllen Galleries. In honor of its distinguished sculptor, Bill Barrett, receiving the prestigious 2026 Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, LewAllen Galleries is proud to announce a special celebratory exhibition of his bronze sculpture that will include small maquettes as well as large outdoor works and mid-size garden pieces. Paintings and works on paper by the artist will also be featured.

Following the state’s official ceremonies on Thursday, October 15, 2026, LewAllen Galleries will host a public opening reception for Barrett in connection with the opening of this exhibition on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The exhibition will remain on view through November 14, 2026.

Over a distinguished career spanning seven decades, Barrett has become widely recognized as a master of modern abstraction working primarily in bronze, but also in aluminum, corten steel, and Carrara marble. He also is a painter of colorful, highly kinetic, curvilinear forms in abstract paintings and drawings from his studios in Santa Fe and New York City. his lyrical sculptures achieve an extraordinary balance between spatial geometry, calligraphic gesture, and fluid kinesis.
