Turner Carroll Gallery will feature recent artwork by artists Marietta Patricia Leis and Sharon Brush. The gallery will host an opening celebration with the artists from 4 to 6pm on Friday, November 6.

With out, with in examines how two individual artists, Marietta Patricia Leis, and Sharon Brush, process memory and inspiration from the outer natural world through their personal interior landscapes. Brush’s hand built sculptural vessels contain rhythm, flow, reverberation, and quiet within each work. Her sculptures are a timeless exploration of growth and perpetual evolution.

Sharon is intrigued by contrasts and moves from slow, sweeping curves to staccato points and ridges. She flows from enclosed spaces to open passages, and from textured surfaces to river-rock smoothness that echoes time. Leis’ reductive and minimally expressive visual practice is shaped out of experiments in material process resulting in poetic interpretations of memory. While the formal differences are identifiable, these works exist where mind and body meet, creating the serene feeling of a space outside of time.
