Instead of building peaceful cohabitation between Arabs and Jews in Palestine, things are developing in the opposite direction - ndoubtedly, as a consequence of increasingly aggressive policies of Israeli governments.
The world has been witnessing an open genocide taking shape in various forms: from direct massive killing by bombarding urban settlements, to starving to death, and preventing international food aid from reaching the targeted Arab population recently, particularly in Gaza.
According to confirmed reports, over the last 2 years, about 62,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis, and only 17% among them could be classified as soldiers (according to a secret Israeli military report). This shows that we are not experiencing a war, but an organized genocide of Palestinians.
As this has been happening already for decades, the world has become used to this tragedy, and for several reasons, it looks as if nothing can be done to stop this shameful genocide and the worst form of ethnic cleansing.
Besides the direct perpetrators, several Israeli governments - especially the one led by Benjamin Netanyahu - the shadow partners, and the protectors of this genocide are successive US governments.
For over 20 years, the USA - as a permanent member of the UN Security Council - has been preventing the recognition of Palestine as a sovereign UN member state, which is the position of over 160 countries: an overwhelming majority of UN member states. This represents a totally unjustifiable and unacceptable denial of Palestinians as a nation and indirectly allows Israel to continuously execute the genocide. Logically, this creates the response by Hamas, forced to act violently, and therefore being treated by Israel as a terrorist organization. There is increasing opposition in Israel to Netanyahu's aggressive policies, but still, very few citizens refuse to join the army when receiving the call from the authorities.
Under these conditions, the extremist Jewish interests - being to exterminate the Palestinians - are presented as justified, and are apparently accepted by many as almost legitimate. This at least partly explains the lack of international reaction to the ongoing genocide.
Basically, it is very simple and completely clear to anyone who has an open mind and is interested in helping people from being exterminated. The ruling Israeli politicians erroneously think that this serves their country's strategic interests.
It is not surprising that the Israeli government is making systematic efforts to prevent the world from realizing the scope and nature of its genocidal policies in Palestine. By acting in this way, it enjoys consistent support (political and by providing arms) from the successive US governments, also by systematically disinforming the world. However, with the recent Netanyahu escapade, nobody can prevent us from realizing the unacceptable facts about the ongoing genocide.
It is a historical irony that Jews, who suffered so much over centuries, are capable of committing such a genocide against Arabs in Gaza. Is it possible that the current Israeli government expects that - when Arabs are decimated and further weakened - they will accept living together in one state, ruled by those who are their worst enemy?
Provided the international community is (at least by declaration) committed to basic principles of human rights and proper behavior of its member states, this genocide cannot be tolerated. However, this is still happening, and the global community is definitely not doing enough to prevent Israel from committing it shamefully.
The world could and should do several things:
Put pressure on the USA by presenting its responsibility for allowing Israel to continuously commit such a horrible policy of genocide and ethnic cleansing;
Generate political and economic pressure on the Israeli government - demanding that it stops this genocide, otherwise be completely isolated;
Use all relevant international organizations and fora to increase global awareness about the genocide and organize political pressure on the Israeli government, demanding that it immediately stops it;
Declare PM Netanyahu personally responsible for this genocide, and prevent him from entering any country around the globe.
Besides governments, non-governmental organizations could contribute to building up political pressure on Israel, and particularly its current prime minister. It is also clear that companies should immediately stop doing business with their Israeli partners.
Also, the media could contribute to the international isolation of Israel by more systematically reporting on its genocidal activities in Palestine. This will build up public pressure upon national governments to act against Israeli genocidal policies.
And finally, international organizations should use their power to isolate Israel by freezing their membership and forcing the respective organizations in Israel to act against the genocidal policies of their government.
By not doing everything possible, we are all sharing in responsibility for the genocide in Palestine - happening in front of our eyes, in the 22nd century. Not acceptable! Lack of effective action by world powerful nations deepens humanity’s collective moral failure. History will undoubtedly judge this silence as complicity in unimaginable crimes.
