History, beauty, peoples, and myths—but also the dangers and tensions that threaten the Great Sea today.

The exhibition’s itinerary represents the Mediterranean in all its complexity through immersive installations and previously unseen satellite images, in dialogue with works by Camilla Gurgone, Felice Levini and Giulio Paolini, with those by Nicolò Degiorgis and Luca Trevisani part of the Maxxi Collection and with important loans from the Museo delle Civiltà, the Museo Nazionale Etrusco di Villa Giulia, the Museo Nazionale Romano, the Società Geografica Italiana, and the Regione Siciliana – Soprintendenza del Mare.

It is a synthesis of science and art, past and present, with extraordinary emotional impact. Yet, it is also an invitation to reflect on the urgent need to protect this great sea’s natural heritage.
