The life of an artist is full of dreams—but which ones? Marina Vitolo, a great comedic performer, reveals hers in the show Giusto a metà, on stage February 22 at 6:00 PM at the Piccolo Teatro di Prova, one of the smallest theaters in Italy. In the Alessandrino district, the cultural space—directed by Luca Pennacchioni and Claudia Spedaliere—will host Vitolo in a partly autobiographical narrative that entertains while also prompting reflection on the true value of talent, often overshadowed by physical appearance, which seems to carry greater weight.
The journey on stage comes to life after her return to the entertainment world, following a break of several years devoted to family—right halfway between being and appearing, between family and work, between the role of woman and that of artist. Under the spotlight are the doubts, struggles, and uncertainties of a woman who believes she can pursue her career without taking anything away from the other great and irreplaceable love of her life: her family—all while trying to keep up with the times.
The story, although told by the protagonist (who is also the author) in a comic and irreverent way, leaves room for numerous—and at times moving—moments of reflection. On stage, as often happens, reality and fiction meet, giving life to an authentic and emotional character.
The music accompanying the magical theatrical space, thanks to pianist Rocco Donati, represents for Marina an irresistible call to her memories, inevitably leading her to compare the past with the present. But behind the scenes, she suddenly finds herself unable to control her other “half,” and is swept by her own passions onto that long-desired stage.
