The Museum’s entrance becomes a space for experimentation with environmental and interactive installations, inviting visitors to pause and engage with contemporary design.
Entrate is a multi-year design programme that intends to rethink the Museum’s lobby as a place for promoting and sharing contemporary creativity. Since 2023, Maxxi has been acquiring a collection of contemporary design, becoming the first museum institution to welcome the most current forms of the discipline and work on intercepting its most significant expressions.
The first edition involved Nacho Carbonell, a Spanish designer active in Eindhoven who works with natural materials and experimental techniques. For the Maxxi hall, Carbonell designed a large 7-metre-high tree under and within which an environment is created to be explored and experienced. The tree is enveloped by lights and foliage made from fishing nets. Everyone can enjoy objects and furnishings associated with it.
