Galería Juan Silió presents El sendimento de la línea, a solo exhibition by Antonio Mesones curated by Juan Bautista Peiró that brings together a body of paintings and works on paper.
The organizing concept of the exhibition is the term sendimento, a blend of the words sedimento (sediment) and sentimiento (feeling/emotion). This concept refers to the physical, geological, and temporal accumulation of painterly material on canvas, evident in Mesones’ painterly process, into which he also introduces the dimension of lived experience and the receptive sensibility of feeling.
Through this intersection, the lines cease to function merely as contours and instead become paths built by the painter, where the brushstroke registers duration, pressure, and the spontaneity of the manual gesture. By layering surfaces and temporalities onto the canvas, Mesones’ painting brings together matter and emotion into a single event.
