Opening 8 July 2026, Gaudí, Miró, Gomis: deconstructed is the second exhibition at Casa Batlló Contemporary, the new exhibition space on the second floor of Casa Batlló dedicated to activating Gaudí’s legacy through contemporary creation.

Co-organised by the Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona, and Casa Batlló Contemporary, the exhibition is presented as part of Gaudí Year 2026. This year-long program, coinciding with the centenary of Gaudi’s death, is aimed at reinforcing the architect’s legacy and re-engaging with his work from a contemporary perspective.

Casa Batlló Contemporary inaugurated this new space in January 2026 with Beyond the façade, the first exhibition in Spain by the London-based studio United Visual Artists, establishing a new artistic program centered on visual experimentation and dialogue with Gaudí’s architecture.

In dialogue: Gaudí, Miró, Gomis

Developed by the creative studio Tomorrow Bureau and curated by Joana Seguro (Casa Batlló Contemporary) and Ester Ramos (Fundació Joan Miró), the exhibition proposes a new interpretation of the connections between the Catalan artists Antoni Gaudí, Joan Miró and Joaquim Gomis. It brings into dialogue original works by all three creators alongside newly commissioned digital installations.

The exhibition brings together original works by Joan Miró—including sculptures and graphic works—alongside photographs by Joaquim Gomis, whose perspective played a key role in the dissemination and reinterpretation of Gaudí’s work.

This historical body of work is complemented by a contemporary layer of audiovisual, sound and digital pieces that reinterpret the works through tools such as animation, 3D scanning and generative artificial intelligence, creating an immersive environment that expands their perception.

Tomorrow Bureau’s interventions function not only as visual devices but as analytical tools, offering new ways of examining the works. Through these processes, forms are analyzed, reconstructed and transformed, revealing material and structural dimensions that remain invisible to the naked eye.

Rather than adopting a strictly historical approach, the exhibition considers the work of the three figures as part of an interconnected system. Gaudí, Miró and Gomis shared the same territory, landscape and city: their works did not develop in isolation but in dialogue, within a cultural ecosystem in which Gaudí’s architecture was a living presence and a constant source of inspiration. The exhibition articulates this relationship through shared themes such as nature, materiality and artistic experimentation, core elements of their practices.

Developed in collaboration with the Fundació Joan Miró, the exhibition revisits a 2019 exhibition at the museum and reconsiders it through a contemporary curatorial approach.
