The National Museum of Lithuania was one of the first public museums to be established in the country. Today it has grown to include more than one and a half million exhibit items and twelve museum branches. At the Vilnius castle and former military fortress buildings – The Castellan’s House, Gediminas Castle Tower, the Old and New Arsenals, and the Bastion of the Vilnius Defence Wall – visitors are introduced to stages of pre-modern Lithuania’s history.
