Homesick for another world takes its cue from the artists’ ability to transfigure the landscape—natural, with its phenomena, or constructed—into something different, surprising, dreamlike. The works in the exhibition move away from the model (if there ever is one) or rather approach an existing model, a recognizable form, but using the most unexpected means.
Burlap, paper and soap draw a soft landscape sloping toward the horizon; thanks to fire and UV light, rainbows appear on stainless steel; typewriter typefaces build brick walls. The images project into a physical and at the same time unreal—metaphysical—world. It is an art-transfigured world that does not exist, yet belongs to us, where we long to return.
