The first institutional exhibition in Brazil by Cameroonian artist Pascale Marthine Tayou presents installations, sculptures, and paintings by the artist, who has over 25 years of experience. The works reorganize materials and activate exchanges, reflecting on the existence of everyday objects and inviting the public to look at collective life in dialogue with important international conferences.
The title Knockout! suggests confrontation, but also humor and excess, elements that run through the exhibition's narrative, structured around seven international conferences: Berlin, Yalta, San Francisco, Rome, Rio de Janeiro, Bandung, and Avignon.
In the exhibition that occupies all seven rooms of the Pina Luz, Tayou intertwines these episodes with aesthetic experiences, exploring colors, textures, materials, and tensions, where the poetic and the political meet in constant conflict.
