z2o Sara Zanin is pleased to announce C’è un tempo e un luogo, the solo show by Silvia Camporesi, curated by Federica Muzzarelli, at Centro della Fotografia di Roma / Mattatoio.

The exhibition marks the opening of the new Centro della Fotografia di Roma, the first public photography center in the city, opening within the newly restored spaces of the ex Mattatoio di Testaccio, as part of the broader transformation into Città delle arti.

In Silvia Camporesi’s photographs, places undeniably hold a central role: real, imaginary, transformed, invented, lived in, distorted or, instead, simply found places. They are uncanny spaces, floating within atmospheres of suspended time, hiding mysteries and secret narratives. Yet these places, these photographs are the end point, the tangible result of something far more essential and fundamental to her work as an artist: the path itself, the experience, the journey through and alongside the space and time of her research and design. Within that eternal challenge to certainties that photography embodies: to exist perpetually on the threshold of multiple borders and identities.

The new Centre for Photography of Rome is the first public center entirely dedicated to photography in the Italian capital. It is housed within the Mattatoio, a former industrial complex transformed into a cultural hub in the heart of Testaccio. The Centre serves as a key institution for the promotion of contemporary photographic culture, both Italian and international. Its mission includes preserving and enhancing photographic heritage, fostering visual literacy, and contributing to the cultural development of the area. A space for encounter, exchange, and discovery, open to the citizens and the world.
