Valentin Bosshard is a Franco-European voice with a deep-rooted curiosity for the world’s shifting landscapes: political, cultural, and societal. Born and raised in the historically rich region of Alsace, France, he stands at a symbolic crossroads of European history and identity. Alsace’s layered past and binational character have deeply influenced Valentin’s worldview, instilling in him a nuanced understanding of coexistence, difference, and dialogue.

Valentin Bosshard holds a double master’s degree in political science and international relations from Sciences Po Strasbourg, where he honed a multidisciplinary approach to global affairs. Whether analyzing international diplomacy or dissecting the nuances of foreign policy, Valentin strives to grasp the invisible threads that bind societies, ideologies, and decisions together. His academic journey culminated in a dissertation titled “The Prospects of German and Japanese Powers: Between Civilization and Affirmation on the International Scene,” a comparative study of how two major global players navigate their foreign policy legacies and ambitions in the post-Cold War era. The research explores themes such as constitutional pacifism, historical reconciliation, incremental global engagement, and military power, topics that remain at the heart of his intellectual pursuits.

Growing up in a bilingual family gave Valentin an early appreciation for the power of language and cross-cultural communication. Fluent in French and English, he later took up German, Spanish, and Japanese, driven by both personal fascination and professional ambition. He continues to sharpen his skills in these languages, viewing each as a new key to unlocking the culture, literature, and political thought of a given place.

His international experiences have been equally formative. After graduating in 2023, Valentin began his career in Frankfurt am Main, the financial powerhouse of Germany. Immersed in the fast-paced environment of consulting services, he acquired valuable insight into the interplay between finance, politics, and social change. He currently works as a media analyst in Dublin, where he decodes media narratives, monitors policy trends, and advises clients across various sectors. His day-to-day work offers him a front-row seat to the mechanisms that shape public perception and governmental decision-making in real time.

Valentin’s interests go far beyond Europe. An ardent admirer of world cultures, he has long been captivated by East and Southeast Asia. From the irresistible pull of the Korean Wave to his deep appreciation for Thai cuisine and Japanese literature, Valentin’s cultural appetite is matched by a scholarly dedication to understanding the region beyond its pop culture exports. His readings span historical essays, political commentaries, and fiction, each helping to refine his understanding of Asia’s complex narratives and modern transformations.

As someone who grew up in the heart of Europe, Valentin remains unapologetically pro-European. He sees the European Union not as an abstract bureaucracy but as a living project—fragile, imperfect, and yet full of potential. His Alsatian heritage, where French and German influences intersect, gives him a unique perspective on European identity, regional diversity, and the power of cross-border cooperation.

In addition to international politics and cultural studies, Valentin deeply enjoys writing about issues like climate change, technological governance, and social justice. He takes a particular interest in diversity and inclusion, convinced that equitable representation is not a luxury but a necessity in our increasingly pluralistic societies. At a time when misinformation and extremism continue to challenge liberal democracies, Valentin believes firmly in the role of thoughtful writing and critical analysis. For him, the pen remains a powerful tool—capable of bridging divides, challenging assumptions, and, when wielded with care, inspiring the world. He hopes to one day lead initiatives that connect policy, culture, and education to foster a more just and empathetic global community built on mutual respect and understanding.
