Nüart Gallery is pleased to present Yearn, a solo exhibition of new paintings by John Tarahteeff, on view from September 5 through September 28, 2025. The exhibition will open with a reception on Friday, September 5, from 5:00–7:00 pm.
In Yearn, Tarahteeff embraces a distinctly romantic sensibility, deepening the contemplative atmosphere for which he is known. His paintings evoke the quiet gravity of longing: figures stand poised in stillness, their gestures suspended between innocence and experience, memory and anticipation. Subtle narrative cues—a child leaning over water, a bird caught mid-flight, a figure glancing beyond the frame—invite viewers into a space of tender mystery, where desire and reverie shape the emotional landscape.
Rendered with Tarahteeff’s hallmark precision, these works merge classical technique with the subtle tension of magical realism. Sparse backdrops heighten psychological depth, while soft, silvery palettes bathe each scene in an ethereal light. Rather than offering resolution, Tarahteeff’s compositions dwell in ambiguity, creating an atmosphere both intimate and expansive, where every detail feels charged with meaning.
