Kantor LA. is happy to announce a recent opening of Ron DeFelice’s solo show, The Long Shortcut.

DeFelice’s works portray many of the renowned and familiar characters from the Looney Toons to Disney upon landscapes. His artistic blend of these elements creates a whimsical beauty that is unique yet nostalgic and invites you to explore the impossible realities of his paintings.

Ron DeFelice graduated with a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 1980. He lives and works in Connecticut, USA. He worked as an artist for over twenty-five years, contributing to such iconic Disney and Fox films as Lilo & Stitch and Ice Age. His personal artwork is informed by the tradition of ‘plein air’ painting, sculpture, digital painting and pop culture.

Inspired by iconic toys and cartoons over the years, along with his reverence of nature, Ron DeFelice conceived the idea to produce whimsical worlds on painted canvas. He further enhances lighting, color and composition through digital design rendering these amorphic clay characters with texture and monolithic proportions allows him to achieve a deliberate contrast to his painterly landscapes. As a result, Ron DeFelice is able to conjure up these impossible realities that radiate weirdness and positivity. It is his hope that the viewer will feel a connection to this happy amalgam of nostalgia and fantasy.
