Fire Station is proud to present the fourth installment of its Artist in Residence Programme Infinite Dimensions. Realised in three main sections: Tangible Spectrums, The Edge of Thoughts, and Visual Sphere, the exhibition answers the questions that dominated the debates between the curators and the resident artists regarding their understanding of conceptualism and the reality of an artwork.

In the first, the space for imagination and interpretation is wide-open for the viewers to build-up their own perspectives. The more direct artworks have only one route for interpretation in which aesthetics take precedence, while the idea is merely an element of its structure. In between these two sections, there are works that equally identify main ideas and the physical form, calmly addressing viewers and balancing their emotions towards the artwork itself.

The wide range in media from sound installations to the clever manipulation of furniture is a testament to how the 55 artworks on view may express the notion of conceptualism. During this nine month residency period, the 19 artists honed their expertise, and unchained their outlook from any set rules on beauty or social and political theorising. Their practice leapt towards dimensions where an artwork may be free to simply be a tool to project thought into the infinite.
