An exhibition selected by the Visual Arts section of the Critics’ Circle as part of its centenary celebrations, to draw attention to artists, makers and architects who should be better known.

With an art press increasingly dominated by blockbuster shows and the media hype surrounding a small group of high profile artists supported by powerful international galleries, art critics rarely get the time or space to write about lesser known artists they really admire.

So, just for once and as part of the centenary celebrations of the Critics’ Circle in 2013, the Visual Arts Section has decided to create its own exhibition and ask its members to nominate an artist, craft maker or architect whose work they feel should given more attention – and exhibited in a public space in Central London.

The Mall Galleries liked the idea so much that they agreed to make their handsome new contemporary gallery, The Threadneedle Space, available for a week of prime time this June (10th- 15th). So with twenty critics’ choices on show and everything for sale, now is the moment to find out what critics really like – and even have in their homes.

The Critics’ Circle is the oldest critics’ organisation in the world with 400 members working across five disciplines – dance, drama, film, music and visual arts & architecture – in the UK.
