In Flux and flow: the great Marsh, messages from the Marsh, part 9, Amy Kaczur offers an immersive video and sound installation drawn from, and continuing, her broader project Messages from the Marsh. Combining underwater and aerial drone imagery, Kaczur highlights coastal salt marsh locations along the U.S. East Coast projected to be submerged by 2050 due to sea level rise.
This segment highlights restored salt marshes that are beginning to recover after centuries of agricultural ditching and other human interventions. By documenting these sites in transition, Kaczur explores the fragile and ever-shifting boundary between land and sea while offering a vision of ecological resilience.
Kaczur’s site-specific research underscores the vital role of marshes as barrier spaces, carbon capture systems, and migratory habitats, revealing an interconnected, dynamic rhythm that calls for active environmental stewardship.
