Gaa is thrilled to present Tender ground, an exhibition bringing together works by Travis Boyer, Angelina Gualdoni, Lexia Hachtmann, Mevlana Lipp, and Krzysztof Strzelecki. Across painting and sculpture, the exhibition examines nature and the natural world as forms of shelter: sites of refuge, intimacy, concealment, and transformation. Nature can be seen as a language, a way of moving between the organic, the constructed, and the emotional. Leaves, flowers, roots, bodies, and other biomorphic forms appear as mutable structures through which experience is felt and organized.
Tender ground suggests both vulnerability and potential, a terrain that may yield beneath one’s weight, but also ground capable of receiving a seed, sustaining growth, or bearing the trace of an encounter. Softness, seduction, and abundance coexist with unease; surfaces invite closeness while resisting easy possession. The natural world emerges as a dense and changeable field, a thicket in which forms overlap and distinctions between body and object, shelter and exposure become porous.
Like an understory, an ecological layer that develops beneath the canopy, Tender ground makes room for what grows in partial light. It is a space of accumulation and overlap, where forms shelter one another without becoming fixed, and where intimacy remains inseparable from exposure.
