There are things that only appear when we stop to look. A presence, a place, a memory, something that once was, or something that remains close. A minute can be enough for something to move us and, for an instant, change the way we relate to the world. Perhaps it is then that this something asks to be portrayed, not as a replica, but as a way of making permanent that which, for a moment, stood before us.

In the work of these seven artists, that instant takes different forms and moves between what is near and what is distant, between what remains and what once was. While everything continues to move, each artist pauses before something different, yet they all meet in the need to preserve that which deserves to be kept.

A minute is barely an instant in the life of the world, but it can be enough to stop that which is disappearing, preserve a presence, and return to it.
