Casa MB Los Angeles is pleased to present You want to hear echoes, a presentation of new works by Leo Mock.
The Symbolists, by definition, sought to paint the ineffable. Symbolist painters don't paint icons, as it might seem, but rather they paint emotions and psychological states. They paint the indescribable. They have no interest in telling you what the picture means, but hope that it means something to you.
Symbolist artists at the turn of the 1900th century, like Odilon Redon, Edvard Munch and Paul Gauguin, defined Symbolism as imagery for the invisible. If you revive the definition for contemporary artists today it would seem that many would fall into this movement of, attempting to symbolize the ineffable. Leo Mock would like to be cataloged among the Symbolists.
This marks Leo Mock’s fifth exhibition with M+B. You want to hear echoes, is an exhibition of clouds.
