Doubts. Setbacks. Pride. Triumph. The exhibition traces the personal dilemmas faced by Vincent van Gogh, his brother Theo, sister-in-law Jo and nephew Vincent, who later founded the Van Gogh Museum. They safeguarded his work, organised exhibitions and helped build his reputation. Without them, hardly anyone would know Vincent today.

See masterpieces from the Van Gogh Museum collection, including Almond blossom and The harvest, alongside lesser-known works. This exhibition is the ideal starting point for your visit to the museum and introduces you to the family behind the myth. Because without the unconditional support of his family, the Van Gogh Museum would never have existed.
