The exhibition in Schlossmuseum Linz The communale oö 2026 serves as a central point of reference and offers insights into the preconditions and framework that led to the armed uprising in Upper Austria.

It illustrates the population's lives, shaped by multiple crises, and traces the insurgents' initial successes in May 1626, through the ultimately failed siege of Linz Castle, to their devastating defeats in November of the same year.

The six months of armed uprising were followed by 400 years of historiography and interpretation, culminating in the political instrumentalization of the topic in the 20th century. From the perspective of a 21st-century society, the exhibition examines this process of remembering and commemorating over four centuries and explores how it continues to shape the narrative of the Upper Austrian Peasants' War.
