Galería Elvira González presents Small format, a group exhibition that brings together works by twenty-seven national and international artists, including Roger Ackling, Alfredo Alcain, Miquel Barceló, Eduardo Chillida, Andrew Cranston, Olafur Eliasson, Adolph Gottlieb, Agnes Martin, Henri Matisse, Wilhelm Sasnal, Juan Uslé, and Tom Wesselmann, among many others.
The common thread running through the exhibition is the small format of all the works on display, a feature that, far from limiting them, highlights the intensity, precision, and depth with which each artist approaches their practice. Small format invites us to rethink scale as an expressive tool capable of concentrating gesture, matter, and concept in an intimate space.
The selected works encompass different languages and techniques —painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, photography, and installation— offering a diverse overview that spans movements and generations. From the minimalist sensibility of Agnes Martin and Antonio Calderara to the vibrant materiality of Miquel Barceló and Esteban Vicente, through the conceptual subtlety of Olafur Eliasson and the visual poetics of Albarrán Cabrera, the exhibition proposes a dialogue between artists who, despite their different eras and backgrounds, share an interest in formal concentration and the intensity of gesture.
