Ascaso Gallery, in collaboration with the Julio Larraz Foundation, is proud to present Reciprocity, an innovative exhibition that unites a selection of works by Julio Larraz with pieces by eleven contemporary artists personally influenced by his art and vision.

The exhibition features Cooper Dragonette, Reynier Ferrer, Julio Figueroa Beltrán, Nelson Jalil, Maia Larraz, Reynier Llanes, Jefreid Lotti, Heidi Love Larraz, Edel Lugones, Leticia Sánchez Toledo, and Yojacne Tellez.

Renowned for his extraordinary imagination and technical mastery, Julio Larraz has also been celebrated for his generosity in supporting and encouraging other artists. Many of those included in Reciprocity have not only drawn inspiration from his work but also benefitted from his openness and mentorship.

Founded in 2019 by the Larraz family, the Julio Larraz Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to preserving, promoting, and transmitting the artistic and conceptual legacy of Julio Larraz.

At the heart of Larraz’s practice lies an uncompromising devotion to freedom. As he has declared: “Freedom,… the most important thing in Art.”

Reciprocity honors this commitment to artistic freedom while celebrating the dialogue and creative spirit it has inspired across generations.

Ascaso Gallery established its headquarters in Valencia, Venezuela in 1989. In 2002, it inaugurated a second location in Caracas, and in 2010, opened a third in Miami. Today, the gallery continues to consolidate its program through proposals from relevant artists in international and Latin American modern and contemporary art.

For Ascaso Gallery, Reciprocity brings to fruition and closes an important circle that establishes the relationship between the work of a significant master and his disciples, opening the way to new generations of artists who will nourish the city’s cultural heritage.
