The Provincetown Arts Society, in collaboration with the Schoolhouse Gallery and the Sally Project, proudly presents On the edge, a new exhibition running from August 16 to September 21, 2025 at the historic Mary Heaton Vorse House. Curated by Gene Tartaglia, this compelling showcase brings together over 30 artists—many of whom are women and people of color—whose work reflects on cultural identity, social inclusion, and shared human experience.

On the edge emphasizes the intersection of art and activism, featuring emotional and aesthetic explorations of overlooked narratives. Site-specific installations by artists such as Carole Kunstadt and Sasha Chavchavadze transform domestic objects and mixed-media collages into evocative visual expressions of resistance, memory, and transformation. These works deepen the conversation about how art can reframe the stories of marginalized individuals.

The Provincetown Arts Society invites the public to explore the exhibition in the evocative setting of the Vorse House—once home to journalist and activist Mary Heaton Vorse—and participate in related programs including artist talks and community readings. Offering both visual and intellectual engagement, On the edge reaffirms the Society’s mission to foster cultural understanding and inclusive storytelling through the arts.
