Since its establishment in 1960, the distinguished members of the Min Chiu Society have long upheld the aspiration to “revere antiquity while diligently seeking knowledge”. Their practice transcends mere collecting, embracing instead a tradition of meticulous study and has gained international acclaim. In celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Society, this exhibition features over 400 sets of precious Chinese artefacts from their collections, including Chinese painting and calligraphy, ceramics, bronzes, lacquerware, jades, bamboo carvings, furniture and snuff bottles, for the enjoyment, appreciation and enlightenment for all.

Reimagining artefacts: the holographic experience

The exhibition also features an interactive education corner, offering visitors an immersive journey through the Min Chiu Society’s storied history and collections. This innovative experience merges technology with art, employing holographic projections that allow visitors to virtually handle ancient Chinese art treasures, redefining the way audiences engage with cultural artefacts. For the first time, the corner will display rare archival materials from the Society—including its founding charter, meeting records, and official seals— showcasing the development of this prestigious collectors’ group. Showcasing a curated selection of exhibition catalogues and publications of the Society, this education corner allows audiences to explore the collections of its members and understand the cultural significance of collecting.

Min chiu society

Established in 1960, the Min Chiu Society is an internationally acclaimed organisation comprising passionate local collectors from different professions. Its members share a deep appreciation for art, uniting through their enthusiasm for connoisseurship. Their eclectic collections encompass Chinese painting and calligraphy, ceramics, bronze, jade, textiles, glassware, lacquerwares and carvings in bamboo and wood. Guided by its founding principle of “appreciating classic knowledge and striving to seek it earnestly”, the Society is dedicated not only to collecting and scholarly exchange but also to promoting Chinese art and culture. Through exhibitions, lectures, academic publications, and sponsorship programmes, it aims to share these private collections with the public, transforming personal passion into a vital force for cultural preservation.
