In this new series, Mark Tweedie returns to Carnarvon, the coastal town of his childhood, after more than thirty years away. The sun-bleached streets and layered memories of this familiar landscape serve as both setting and subject, offering a space where time folds in on itself. Developed during a 2024 residency, the project becomes a deeply personal journey of return and reflection.

Through this body of work, Tweedie traces the emotional contours of place, capturing the intersection of personal histories, fading dreams, and quiet acts of remembrance. His paintings evoke a gentle nostalgia, where past and present intermingle, revealing the ways memory shapes our sense of belonging and identity.

Drawing on family memories, recurring dreams, and fragments of local ephemera, Tweedie weaves a tender portrait of a bygone era. His work captures the innocence and freedom of childhood, as well as the quiet poetry found in ordinary moments — offering a deeply felt tribute to the emotional landscape of home.
