Paul Thiebaud Gallery and St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery are pleased to present Urban stories: paintings by Jeff Bellerose, opening Friday June 20th from 4-6pm, with remarks at 4:30pm, at St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery in Rutherford, CA. With much of contemporary life taking place in urban centers, the 24 paintings by Bellerose depicting New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle capture the rhythms of daily life experienced by millions of people every day. Fascinated by the geometry and dramatic juxtapositions of urban architecture, as well as the human stories taking place within it, Bellerose employs light, color, and perspective to heighten the visual experience in his compositions. The exhibition will be on view through May 1, 2026.

An frequent traveler, one of Jeff Bellerose’s favorite activities is to walk around cities while carrying his sketchbook. When he encounters a vantagepoint that sparks his interest, Bellerose will quickly make a sketch using watercolors. Back in his studio, Bellerose executes the painting in oils on either canvas or panel. The works featured in Urban Stories focus on the dramatic voids created by skyscrapers, the long vistas formed by expansive streets, and the dimly lit scenes of underground subways. Bridges and overpasses are another subject of interest for Bellerose, in particular the Brooklyn Bridge with its iconic structure and cabling system. Alongside these paintings are intimate scenes of city dwellers riding the subway, racing to meet someone at the train station, and ambling through their neighborhood on a romantic walk. Visually evocative, Jeff Bellerose’s paintings convey the sites, sounds, stories that make up urban life in America.

Born and raised in Boston, MA, to a family of artists – his mother is a watercolorist and his father is a professional illustrator – for Jeff Bellerose art has been a lifelong pursuit. Bellerose attended Tufts University and earned a B.S. in Physics and Mechanical Engineering. His works paintings have been exhibited extensively across the United States and can be found in numerous private collections.
