Ninuku Arts is an Aboriginal art centre situated in the APY Lands of South Australia, close to the borders of Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Nestled in the Tomkinson Ranges, the centre supports artists from the Kalka and Pipalyatjara communities, where Pitjantjatjara is the primary language. Known for its commitment to cultural preservation and artistic innovation, Ninuku Arts has built a reputation both nationally and internationally for showcasing vibrant works that reflect the dynamic styles of the Western Desert art tradition.
The art centre is celebrated for its distinctive use of bold colour and the stylistic diversity of its artists. Each work carries strong ties to ancestral stories and Country, with individual approaches to form, pattern, and narrative. Through this visual storytelling, the artists sustain important cultural knowledge and share it with broader audiences. This ongoing practice highlights the strength and creativity within these remote communities and affirms the enduring relevance of their cultural expressions.
The exhibition Together we share our stories, presented in association with Ninuku Arts, brings together works by ten artists, including Inawantji Jennifer Forbes, Angkaliya Nelson, Margaret Donegan, Carol Young, and Samuel Miller. On display at Japingka Gallery until 14 May 2025, the show offers an intimate look into the shared and individual stories of the artists, celebrating their connection to land, culture, and community through powerful contemporary artworks.
