Take a sartorial tour through 23 of British fashion icon Lee Alexander McQueen’s critically acclaimed early designs. Preserved and maintained by owner Ruti Danan—a colleague and former McQueen studio member—these items span from 1994 to 1996 and feature original catwalk designs from his bombastic “Bumster” trousers and shocking “Highland Rape” collection as well as his genre defying “Dante” show, which established his name as a master showman and storyteller. Most of these one-off creations were created and assembled by McQueen himself, making them among the rarest examples of his early work.

Curated by Ruti Danan and Alexander McQueen archivist and @McQueen_Vault account creator John Matheson, these items are available for public viewing at New-York Historical for an exclusive three-day pop-up installation, the last time they'll be shown together before they are dispersed at auction.
