Forget the image of a writer working alone in his studio. Emmanuel Lepage, of Breton origin, loves to travel, meet people, make discoveries and share his experiences. Incorporating his love of adventure and curiosity for the world and its people, his work is marked by great elegance and sensitivity and celebrates emotion, intensity and humanity.

Inspired by his many travels, the author alternates fiction and reality in stories he writes alone or in collaboration with other scriptwriters. The Land of No Pain and Muchacho combine history and adventure in South America. From 2010, following a trip to Antarctica, Lepage moved into illustrated reporting, as can be seen in Voyages aux îles de la Désolation [journeys to the islands of desolation], Un printemps à Tchernobyl [a spring in Chernobyl] and La lune est blanche [the moon is white]. His magnificent colours and his stories take us into a fascinating world and encourage us to change our perspective. The Belgian Comic Strip Center is delighted to be exhibiting the work of this talented artist, a key figure of modern-day comic strips.
