The Ordrupgaard Museum with its masterpieces of Danish painting of the 19th and early 20th century will be hosted at the Hamburger Kunsthalle.

Towards the end of the 19th century the transition to Modern Art took its course also in Denmark. It involved the end of the grand narratives and an orientation towards simple, real life.

The spectrum of the show ranges from the pioneers of the Golden Age to representatives of the National Romantic style, all the way to the prominent Symbolist Vilhelm Hammershøi.
