C. Grimaldis Gallery is pleased to present its 41st annual Summer exhibition, featuring modern and contemporary painting, sculpture and photography. Summer '18 showcases a selection of artists from the gallery's roster to preview its upcoming program and revisit the past season.

This survey exhibition features some of the gallery's most widely visible artists of international acclaim, such as the canonical British sculptor Anthony Caro (1924-2003), Abstract Expressionist painter Grace Hartigan (1922-2008), and Korean light artist Chul Hyun Ahn. Celebrating a history of representing influential local artists, Summer '18 brings together a majority Baltimore- and Maryland-based program and includes several generations of Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) leadership: former president Eugene Leake (1911-2005), professor Raoul Middleman and Hoffberger Director Joan Waltemath.

Summer '18 invites another look at some of the year's most ambitious solo projects, with work by Jae Ko, Nora Sturges, Ben Marcin and John Ruppert. Unexpected pairings, such as the classical landscape painter Henry Coe and Greek outsider artist Giorgos Rigas, demonstrate the gallery's broad reach and varied program. The exhibition will debut photographs from 2018 Guggenheim Fellow Rania Matar's ongoing series, SHE, new sculpture by Colin Van Winkle and recent paintings by 2017 Rome Prize recipient Beverly McIver.

C. Grimaldis Gallery is proud to participate in the 2018 Artscape Gallery Network, celebrating the work of the Janet & Walter Sondheim Prize applicants and artists working throughout the region.
