From ancient Egyptian broadcollars to contemporary studio jewelry, the MFA has an exciting collection of jewelry from almost every culture.

The first curator of jewelry in an American art museum was appointed at the MFA in 2006, thanks to a generous and innovative endowment by the Rita J. and Stanley H. Kaplan Family Foundation, in honor of Rita J. Kaplan.

While based in the Textile and Fashion Arts Department, the Rita J. Kaplan and Susan B. Kaplan Curator of Jewelry oversees objects of adornment Museum-wide.
