Galerie Hussenot is pleased to present An incomplete survey on portraiture, vol. 2.

Volume 2 takes the same body of work that constituted Volume 1 and re-hangs it, showing new angles and points of view of what a portrait can be, whilst clearing sizeable stretches of wall and floor in the process. That emptiness is deliberate — both a literal clearing and a metaphorical one — a way of making room: room to slow down, to return to each of the participants of Volume 1 in turn, and to look past the single work on the wall toward the wider practice behind it, including the side projects that surround and feed it. Where Volume 1 gathered, Volume 2 lingers.

This revised presentation encourages a more reflective encounter with the exhibition, emphasizing the evolving relationships between the works rather than their accumulation. By altering the rhythm of the display and introducing moments of visual pause, the exhibition invites visitors to reconsider portraiture as an open and shifting field of inquiry. The dialogue between presence and absence, fullness and emptiness, becomes central to the viewing experience, allowing individual practices to unfold with greater clarity while revealing unexpected resonances across the exhibition as a whole.
