1301 PE is pleased to present lull between storms, a group exhibition bringing together works by Fiona Banner, Uta Barth, Kirsten Everberg, Petra Cortright, Simryn Gill, Ann Veronica Janssens, Judy Ledgerwood, Jorge Méndez Blake, Jonny Niesche, Jorge Pardo, Ana Prvački, Jessica Stockholder, Stolon Press, Superflex, Diana Thater, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Kerry Tribe, Pae White, and Paul Winstanley.
Bringing together artists from diverse generations and geographical contexts, the exhibition explores states of suspension, transition, and anticipation suggested by its title. Through painting, installation, photography, sculpture, video, publishing practices, and conceptual interventions, the participating artists examine moments of stillness that exist between periods of disruption or transformation. Rather than focusing on dramatic events themselves, the exhibition considers the psychological, atmospheric, and spatial conditions that emerge in intervals of pause and uncertainty.
The works included in lull between storms engage with perception, materiality, language, and the instability of contemporary experience, creating subtle dialogues across media and artistic approaches. Some artists address the fragility of systems and environments, while others investigate intimacy, memory, or the shifting relationship between object and viewer. Together, the exhibition proposes a contemplative yet open-ended reflection on temporality and collective experience, inviting viewers to inhabit the quiet tension implied in moments before change arrives once again.
