The Rio de Janeiro-based artist brings to the central space of Pina Luz, the Octagon, her interpretation of the female body and the sea; The mother contemplates the sea, a huge installation constructed from dozens of strips of multicolored carpets.
Created specifically for the exhibition space, Salgado constructs two large structures using over 3.500 square meters of predominantly red and blue fabrics. The installation is the largest work of his career and openly reveals his relationship with psychoanalysis, a theme that has nourished his work for many decades.
The work revisits a series of elements present in his research since the 80s, such as domestic furniture and landscape, the house and the sea, which oppose and complement each other.
