Semyon Chuykov is a legendary Soviet painter, holding numerous state prizes and awards, and the founder of contemporary Kirgiz fine art. The artist lived in Moscow in his last years but he carried his love for Kirgizia, his small motherland, throughout his entire life.
People, nature, proud severity and simple, laconic beauty of his native land became the main source of inspiration for him and fascinating poetry, without which real art is unthinkable.
The exhibition Legacy of the epoch. Semyon Chuykov will display works covering various periods of the artist’s life and artwork. Among them are Daughter of Soviet Kirgizia, View of the Valley from the Mountains, Rome. Trastevere Square, Living Water, Boy with a Fish, Chaban’s Daughter, Morning, On the Way, Touching Eternity, sketch for the picture Toktogul among the People, and many others. The exhibition is held jointly with the Gapar Aitiev Kirgiz National Museum of Fine Arts.
