The exhibition gives the most ample impression of Ernst Neizvestny’s artwork and consists of four sections: «War is…», «Neizvestny in Manezh», «Gigantomachy» and «Tree of Life» displaying sculptures, paintings and graphic pieces from museum and private collections.
In 1999, the Tretyakov Gallery held an exhibition of Ernst Neizvestny’s illustrations of the Book of Job; yet the current project reveals the evolution of the master’s artistic language for the first time. Visitors will be able to see such works as Mulatta and Portrait of Unskilled Laboress Beisbara, Orpheus (has been approved as the prestigious award of the «TEFFI» Television Contest since 1994), Cosmonaut, A Woman’s Torso and many others.
The exhibition in the Tretyakov Gallery is not only an homage to the prominent sculptor, it is also an opportunity to discover anew the multifaceted legacy of Ernst Neizvestny whose artwork remains to be of vital importance in the XXI century as well.
