Skoufa Gallery presents Juliano Kaglis’ solo exhibition, titled Deception. The exhibition opens on Thursday 20th November at 19:30 and it will run until the 13th December 2025.

Kaglis exhibits a new painting unit at Skoufa Gallery for the first time.

Like a magician who creates an optical illusion, the artist uses the image to speak about a realistic world – only in appearance.

Personal experiences, inner conflicts and fragmentary scenes, moments of solitude or, on the contrary, feasts that co-exist with nymphs, spectators, wizards and gardens.

An idiosyncratic narrative unfolds, inviting the spectator to surrender to the senses, by surpassing reason.

In a creative manner, Juliano Kaglis continues to assimilate both history and the European painting trends. With an earnest execution, a disciplined composition and a frugal narrative, he transforms a personal, suggestive and enigmatic world – a fascinating universe, where nothing is absolutely certain.

Takis Mavrotas mentions in the exhibition catalogue:

“Throughout his career, Kaglis, persistenly and steadily researches new aesthetic exploits of the line and the color, while having his glance nailed between the earth and the sky, the desires and the dreams… He is up against the minute hand of time and with his paintbrush, he records an aesthetic image of our world. From Patraskidis and Milios, his teachers at the School of Fine Art in Athens, to Moralis and Tetsis, he attempts to re-compose another aesthetic world, between the nocturnal waves and the silence of the mountains”.
