In this unique, design-driven exhibition, we invited interior designer Kati Curtis to create a residential-inspired interior vignette centered around a significant collection of fine art from the gallery’s inventory. Rather than treating artwork as a finishing touch, this exhibition inverts that relationship—asking designers to start with a collection of fine art as their inspiration and then build a space around it using collectible furniture and objects by contemporary designers represented by Wexler Gallery.

By approaching the installation from the perspective of both designer and curator, Curtis demonstrates how fine art can define the tone, palette, and emotional rhythm of an interior. Each chosen piece informs the spatial layout and material decisions, allowing art and design to exist in a state of dialogue rather than hierarchy. The result is an environment that feels deeply lived-in and reflective, where aesthetic choices resonate with a sense of narrative and place.

The exhibition highlights how integrating art into design can move beyond decoration to become a form of storytelling. Paintings, sculptures, and functional objects converse with one another, revealing shared themes of craftsmanship, form, and emotion. Visitors are invited to experience how intentional design can elevate the act of living with art—transforming familiar spaces into sites of inspiration and contemplation.

Through this collaboration, Wexler Gallery continues its mission to bridge the worlds of fine art and design. By situating Curtis’s vision within the gallery context, the exhibition underscores the creative potential that emerges when disciplines intersect. It encourages viewers, collectors, and designers alike to imagine new ways of building environments that honor the expressive power of both art and design in equal measure.
