As a contributor to Meer, Alexandra covers Architecture + Design, Art, and Travel, with a particular interest in how cities evolve, how creativity shapes culture, and how design influences daily life. Her reporting is grounded in research, cultural context, and an appreciation for human creation. Whether profiling architects, exploring emerging neighborhoods, or documenting contemporary travel culture, she approaches every story with curiosity and a commitment to authenticity.

Formative Years

When Alexandra was a young girl, her family moved to a city that often felt too small for her imagination. She found an escape by reading books and glossy magazines, each issue satisfying her curiosity for different cultures and trends. This was a time before the internet, and she eagerly awaited new magazines in the mailbox and enjoyed being "In the know" about something new each month. She vividly remembers an early visit to a small art gallery for an exhibition that further broadened her perspective by introducing her to the power of design and creativity.

After learning about the cherry blossom season in elementary school, she became interested in Japanese culture and aesthetics. Her first visit to Japan as an adult deepened her belief in travel as a powerful way to understand the world. She enjoyed being immersed in new environments and exploring the things that make each culture special. Travel has since become a key source of design inspiration for her. Experiencing new cultures broadens her perspective, challenges her creative thinking, and encourages innovation. By stepping outside of her comfort zone, she discovers new ways of living and learns to see the world through fresh eyes.

Education

Her interest in visual design led her to study art history in college. During that time, she began working at a boutique clothing store, where she discovered a love for creating immersive environments through merchandising and display design. The opportunity to continually transform spaces and shape customer experiences sparked a deeper interest in how design influences perception and behavior. Inspired by the relationship between aesthetics and functionality, she changed her major to pursue a degree in interior architecture. Alexandra moved to Los Angeles and studied interior architecture at Santa Monica College, where she developed a strong foundation in spatial design, architectural thinking, and visual communication.

Career

Alexandra has built a successful career across multiple creative disciplines. As a creative project manager, she has led large-scale design projects that combine strategic planning with experiential storytelling. She has also worked as an interior and bespoke furniture designer, creating custom spaces and furnishings that balanced craftsmanship, functionality, and beauty. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with globally recognized brands, including Nike, Spotify, Goop, Nordstrom, and Madewell, helping bring innovative retail and interior concepts to life from initial vision through final execution.

After nearly twenty years in Los Angeles’ creative industries, Alexandra relocated to Mexico City during the pandemic, embracing an opportunity to experience a different way of life while continuing her professional work remotely. What began as a temporary move soon became a permanent chapter. Immersed in one of the world’s most dynamic cultural capitals, she found endless inspiration in the city’s architecture, art, creative communities, and layered history. Living in Mexico City deepened her commitment to cultural storytelling and reinforced her belief that meaningful travel begins with curiosity, observation, and immersion.

Current Focus

In 2022, after years of sharing travel recommendations, itineraries, and destination advice with friends, she launched Wunderlustre.com, a travel and culture platform dedicated to thoughtful exploration, design-focused discovery, and immersive storytelling. Through carefully curated guides, firsthand experiences, photography, and practical insights, she encourages readers to move beyond surface-level tourism and engage more deeply with the destinations they visit. Her work highlights beautiful architecture, thoughtful design, and the unique culture that defines a place more than just its most famous landmarks.

When she is not writing, designing, or planning her next journey, Alexandra can often be found exploring neighborhood cafés, visiting galleries, studying local architecture, or searching for the small details that reveal a destination’s character. Through her work, she invites readers to look beyond the obvious, embracing cultural discovery, and see the world through a more thoughtful and creative lens.
