"Words create worlds." – Pierre du Plessis And for me, it all started with a newspaper and a cup of tea. Growing up in Dehradun, India, mornings were filled with discussions about the latest headlines. The rustling of the newspaper, the hum of the evening news, the way a single article could shift opinions—I was captivated. Stories didn’t just report reality; they shaped it. And I knew I wanted to be part of that world—crafting narratives that inform, challenge, and inspire. A Journey into Journalism Determined to turn my fascination into a profession, I pursued a bachelor’s in mass communication from Doon University. But I didn’t just want to learn about media—I wanted to experience it firsthand.

While still in college, I interned at Doordarshan (an Indian government news channel), stepping into the world of broadcasting for the first time. There, I realized that news was more than just facts; it was about framing perspectives, influencing public discourse, and making complex issues accessible. Working after college hours, I learned the fast-paced demands of the newsroom—tight deadlines, precise storytelling, and the art of distilling vast information into clear, impactful messaging. With a growing passion for journalism, I pursued a master’s degree from DAV PG College, Dehradun, focusing on media research, strategic communication, and digital storytelling. Around this time, I secured an internship at Zee News, one of India’s leading news channels.

Here, I saw firsthand how a well-placed soundbite, a sharp edit, or a compelling frame could shape public perception. The newsroom was a space of energy, speed, and responsibility—where stories didn’t just document events; they gave them meaning. Building a Career in Media After my internship, I officially stepped into the media industry, beginning my professional journey at Network 10 as an assistant producer. This experience strengthened my editorial and communication skills, teaching me how to manage workflows, refine content strategies, and coordinate breaking news coverage. From there, I took on new roles, working as a Rundown Producer at STV Haryana News, a Producer at Khabrain Abhi Tak, and a Content Writer at ETV Bharat Haryana.

It was at ETV Bharat that I had one of the most unique experiences of my career—working at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, the largest film studio complex in the world. Stepping into this massive media hub, I saw firsthand how storytelling evolved beyond traditional journalism. Here, I refined my expertise in visual narratives, multimedia production, and digital media landscapes, expanding my perspective on the future of content. Taking the Leap to Germany But for me, there is no age for learning. That belief led me to take a risk—to step outside my comfort zone and move to Germany in pursuit of new challenges and perspectives. Here, I am not only pursuing my second master’s degree in media and communication science from Technische Universität Ilmenau, but I’ve also spent the past two years as a student assistant for Statista’s digital media team.

At Statista, I’ve combined journalism, research, and digital storytelling, creating data-driven content and reports that translate market trends into meaningful insights. I analyze industry shifts, craft extended reading support for reports, and bring data to life through engaging storytelling. A Career at the Crossroads of Journalism, Research & Digital Media Over the past eight years, I have worked across newsrooms, digital platforms, and media research, covering elections, socio-political trends, and global developments.

My research has explored AI risk communication on YouTube, crisis messaging during COVID-19, and editorial behaviors in conflict reporting. Through each experience, I have learned that journalism isn’t just about reporting—it’s about helping people make sense of the world. Whether in a newsroom, a research project, or a content strategy meeting, I believe that stories have the power to connect, inform, and inspire action. And this journey is far from over. Because words don’t just tell stories— They build worlds.
