Min Shin

Min Shin is an editor and writer based in Connecticut. She is currently an Associate Editor at ESPN.

At Cornell University, she double majored in English and Linguistics and completed a minor in Law and Society. During this time, Min wrote for her college newspaper, the Cornell Daily Sun. Her topics have ranged from her local city’s rent freeze during the pandemic to the Cornell Parole Initiative, a student organization working to prepare parole applicants for their hearings. Upon graduating in 2022, Min moved to New York City, where she worked as an editor for a technology publication covering the latest innovations in technology. She has written analyses, special features, and reviews as well as covered complex issues in technology such as AI regulation. Min has also edited news on tech companies and smaller businesses. As a writer, she has published articles about the ethics of generative AI and 5G and edge computing. She also covered the impact of AI on creative talent in the entertainment industry in her special feature.

Due to her passion in ethical AI regulation, Min led an initiative with her previous team to create transparency surrounding the use of AI tools for all articles. She also led a training on this initiative in order to raise awareness about the responsible use of AI.

In addition to writing, Min has experience assisting in managing her previous team’s social media account on X, Instagram and LinkedIn. As a result, she played a pivotal role in optimizing engagement on multiple social media platforms.

Min also has experience working for an online publication focusing on education. She covered articles about balancing academics and athletics as a college athlete and joining clubs on campus. Drawing from her experiences during college participating in extracurricular activities and being a college athlete, Min was able to channel these experiences through her writing.

Apart from her career in journalism, Min played ice hockey and was a professional athlete for the South Korea Women’s National Ice Hockey Team. During this time, she had the opportunity to travel and train with the team. She played in the Legacy Cup, a tournament with Germany, Poland, and Czechia commemorating the 2018 Winter Olympics, which were held in South Korea. She received the MVP Award from the Korea Ice Hockey Association at the Legacy Cup for her stellar performance.
