Abend Gallery is proud to present Elegant spaces, a solo exhibition by Sandra Pratt.
Known for her evocative palette knife technique and textured surfaces, Pratt captures landscapes, cityscapes, and coastal scenes with a raw emotional immediacy. Her paintings often feature weathered architecture, open spaces, and moody skies. All rendered with a bold, intuitive approach that emphasizes feeling over precision.
This new collection continues in the spirit of her established practice, offering viewers richly layered compositions that balance structure and spontaneity. With her signature impasto style and spontaneous mark-making, Pratt’s work invites quiet reflection and a deeper sense of place.
Born in 1978, self-taught artist Sandra Pratt brings her distinctive vision to Abend Gallery. Known for her expressive palette knife work and intuitive approach, Pratt's paintings explore the interplay between simplicity and emotional depth in landscape art.
Through her work, Pratt continues her exploration of weathered structures and intimate landscapes, rendering scenes with a deliberately limited palette of muted colors. Her process is centered on immediacy and authenticity, completing each painting in a single session.
"Sometimes I will make five paintings in a day... once you get on a good roll, that sixth painting is going to be the best one," she shares. This approach results in works of remarkable freshness and intuitive quality that has become her hallmark.
Originally from Chicago and now based in Colorado, Pratt draws inspiration from the dramatic Western landscapes surrounding her mountain home. Abend Gallery is proud to showcase her ability to distill these vast scenes to their essence, creating works that collectors respond to on a deeply emotional level.
