Fountain House Gallery – the premier venue in New York City representing artists living with mental illness – announces the group exhibition Life’s a party! The show is on view from July 10, 2025, through August 16, 2025. It is curated by Joakim Noah, two-time NBA All-Star and philanthropist, and by Fountain House member-artist Judith Berman, who conceived the show’s theme. Life’s a party! is presented by Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management.

Curator Noah said, “I was fortunate to spend my teenage years living with my mother, a sculptor and art therapist, and my sister in a Hell’s Kitchen artist’s loft that was full of happiness and creativity. We traveled a lot with my father, who was the life of the party everywhere we went, so the theme of the exhibition resonates with me. It has been exciting to select pieces for this show. The artists’ work has inspired me with its originality and expressiveness; there is a lot of talent at Fountain House. I’ve always lived my life with a positive spirit, and my mental health is something that I do my best to protect. In my family, art and sports have been two ways to nurture and protect our mental health, so curating Life’s a party! with Fountain House Gallery has been a joy.”

Curator Berman added, “The show’s title is an expression but also an attitude. We have a choice as to how we frame each challenge. We can think of the glass as half empty or half full. We can count our blessings or choose not to recognize our gifts, including the gift of life itself. Every culture has its days of festivity that bring individuals together in community. It has been fascinating to see what the show’s theme has sparked in my community of Fountain House artists. The mental health of one can affect the mental health of many, and we heal together using art as a vehicle in this ‘party’ of life.”
